I have a 1995 F150 with a 5.8L engine. I would like to install headers, dual cats and true dual exhaust. This system would have a crossover in the same place as the stock system.
I have been warned that any EEC on a 1995 or later model F150 will not function properly if the exhaust system is modified in this way. What sensors are present on the '95 truck that is not on the '94 and earlier truck? Since both use EEC IV, can I switch computers to a '94 EEC and have a properly functioning EEC?
as long as the single O2 sensor is put back in the truck should run fine, there are lots of 95's around with true duals and they run fine. What do you mean a crossover in the same location as stock?
I mean that I intend to take the same shape pipe as the stock "y" pipe and make an "x" pipe out of it. It will be tucked up next to the engine just like the stock "y" pipe is. The cats will be in approximately the same position as the first stock cat. I will not have a second cat, just one high flow cat on each side.
As long as there is only one O2 sensor (there shold be, '96 was the first year for 2) you will be fine, just put the sensor in the middle of the X pipe.
