carburetor help

Hi i have a 1978 F150 with a 351 in it. It has a 2150 carb and i have some questions. The bowl vent on the front top of the carb, what should that hook to? should i rebuild the carb? its running real rich, but when you set the mixture down then it doesnt idle right and then i have to have the idle set so high for it to run. is there a certain way i should set the mixture and idle? any suggestions and advice will be apreciated. Thanks, Justin.

It sounds like a rebuild is in order but try this first.
Turn you idle mixture screws all the way in then back out 1 1/4 turns. Adjust your idle screw to where it barely touches the throttle linkage then one full turn in. The breather tube is just that. I personally don`t hook them to anything it`s there so that the float bowl can breathe.

The external bowl vent should go to the evap canister, but you can just plug that with a vacuum cap.
