i found that the distributor has not much of an o-ring, or even one at all. down in the cavity where the distributor keeps filling up with oil and even though my volume of oil is correct(roughly) i have terribly low oil pressure.
do you figure if i change that o-ring that the leak should stop. causing my pressure to become stable.

It will help the leak to replace the o-ring, but do nothing for the oil pressure.
Assuming your going off the reading of your dash gauge. Have you installed a manual gauge to verify the low oil pressure readings?
If you do a search you find that it's not uncommon to see very low oil pressure in these 460's. Mine drops to about 15 at idle once it's warmed up and will be anywhere from 40-60 when it's cold. The O-ring is really annoying. I've got one I've been meaning to replace but just haven't got around to buying a new ring. Oil is always puddling up around my distributor.
