Angry Maaco mechanical problems..

I had my truck fixed up by maaco, they were to remove the rust and do the fix the dents. I went in to see how it was before i had it towed home (because it dosnt have insurance on it) and i saw that it had quite a few dents and dings still left in it. They fixed my massive carnage on my bed real nice, but left out some dings that realy stand out now. Also, my hood is held on by 3 bolts, instead of 4( i had a new hood for them to paint and put on) . we put a junkyard door on, and lock dosnt work with my key, they didnt change the locks out! On one of the fenders there is a drip where my trim that ran the center of the body was, wich they didnt put back on. i pointed that out to them and they said that they would fix it.. yeah. i asked them to do something with the dents before i left along with the run. I get it towed back, and its still dinged up and now get this, it dosnt start! I checked under the hood, and i see that the solenoid has 1 screw LOOSELY holding it to the fender, wich was replaced. I jumped a wire from the ground to the solenoide case, and it started.

Soo.. if your still with me, what should i do? i am overall pleased that it looks a million times better, but for the 2000 i payed them.. i would expect them to not do real shotty work, and leave the dings. is it that hard to slap some body filler on?? The thing that really tipped me off, i gave it to them and it started and ran, and i get it back not starting? that is BS if you asked me, and i'v heard of the better business bueau, can they help me? And something i seriously hate my self for, i was so stupid and payed them in full in cash. Why i do not know, i just emptied my pockets for them. that was very stupid of me.
BTW, i feel like i was taken advantage of, mainly because im just a 16 year old kid

A shop like Maaco is just a production shop, meaning, get em in, get em out.
My friend works for Maaco here and he warns everyone not to get a paint job from them. I think that since you paid in advance, it's just a lesson learned. If you want a good paint job, next time look into a body shop instead of Maaco. The fact that it doesn't start sucks, but they will just tell you "sorry". You could try to talk to the manager, but I don't think you'll get the answer you want. Look at it this way, at least you learned at 16 rather than 61, now you know what not to do.

Ryan,

that is the kind of work Maaco does.

It has always been that way.

Maaco is good for a quick $400 paint job to make the vehicle look pretty.... right before you sell it.

If you would have asked around before taking it, I guarantee you everyone would have chimed in and told you to take it somewhere else.

I hate to "burst your bubble", but that was ALOT of money to pay a place like Maaco. Historically, a Maaco Paintjob looks good for about a year and a half to two years, then it starts to get dull and literally fall off the vehicle.

Search around on the net for Peoples experiences and reviews of maaco paintjobs. You'll see what I mean.

Maaco is good at not washing the vehicle before they paint it. Don't drive it over about 55mph or the paint may peel off.

All good suggestions, on another aspect....the old locks that were on the doors earlier should've been reinstalled then, however now, you can just take that lock that you don't have a key to any locksmith and they can key it to your exsisting key that works the other doors.

Shotty workmanship isn't good for buisness, however with you beening only 16, the laws would most favor your guardenship (parents) if they would file for you to the bbb, and state what was effective at the time of the contact was signed, as you would expect, "get it in writing" would prefail any attempts to just hearsay in a court of law...if you didn't get it (what you wanted done) on a contract, it won't hold ANY court, and so you learn from the old school of hard knocks. Next time get it in writing.

Drive the truck over to them with your list of complaints, have the manager come out and view the truck, look him in the eye and ask him "How much more will it cost me to have the job done right?"
Bring an adult with you.
