hey guys, i know it's early in the year to be concerned about my defroster, but i just bought this truck and one morning i went to switch it from a/c to defrost and it would blow hot air like i wanted, but it didn't switch from blowing out the vents in the dash to the vents in the top. this is on a 94 f-350 4x4 351. is this a common problem or something easily fixed? any help would be appreciated
Normally, defrost is the default position for HVAC (should work when nothing else does), so I'd suspect a sticking/stuck door that can't make it to the defrost position. Not sure if the door is cable- or vaccuum-operated on your '94.
I have a '93 Bronco and it is vacuum operated so I am pretty sure that '94 is set up the same way. What Staina said sounds like the best place to start. When my truck had a vacuum leak in the hose that operates the blend door, it would cause the air to blow from the defrost vents only because this is the default.
thanks for the quick responses, what do i have to take apart to get a look at this stuff, i've been used to a 79 so is this stuff going to be a lot more complicated or is it basically all the same just made out of plastic?
