Heater Core/Vent Problem
After replacing the heater core, and putting everything back together, the truck only releases air thru the defrost vents reguardless of what the selector is on. Everything seems to be running fine, but when the truck is at a high throttle the big hose (i think its the radiator hose) contracts. I dont think it ever did that before. Could i have hooked up the hoses backward? I dont hear any leaks either. Any help would be greatly appriciated.
Most likely air only comes from the defrost due to a vacuum line being disconneced. In general, defrost is the default when vacuum is lost. Look for a disconnected vacuum line. As for the radiator hose collapsing (I assume it's the lower one you are talking about), that is caused by a hose going bad (provided there is no spring inside to stop it from collapsing).
Well, after taking the truck out on the road for a few minutes for a test drive the vents started working. There is no more smell/steam comming from the vents and no leaks on the floor panel. So im preaty sure the new heater core fixed this problem.
But, my father and I took the truck to work the next day. We started trusting the truck not to stall anymore. But low and behold, on the way home home we stalled in a 1-way road in prime traffic hour. I was searching online for a few explinations, and all that i saw someone mention is a A/C Compressor failing. Would this cause my tuck to stall when idel at red lights and stop signs? The truck will not stall when i press the gas, but driving with 2 feet isnt easy. Any ideas?
