92 Aerostar AWD drivetrain problem?
feels like a drivetrain problem. This "jerking" is so bad that I have to let off the gas for fear the transmission stock is going to be ripped off. The problem will arise at slower speeds (around 50 mph) if the van is under load, such as going up a steep hill. I also had a simular problem in the past, only at higher speeds (65-70mph) but after I took the van in for a recall repair it went away for a year or so. The recall was the S83 recall in which the rear half of the transfer case was replaced and also the driveshaft was replaced with an aluminum one.
Any Ideas?
The above is the explantion for the recall a couple of years ago.As I stated before, I did have the problem before the recall, and it did go away after the recall was completed, but returned a couple of years later.
Yes, the jerking pretty well happens like clockwork around 57mph, or on a steep hill sooner. Since the problem went away once before when the rear half of the transfer case was replaced under the recall, I am wondering if there is something else wrong that is causing premature wear in the replaced parts.
Any replies welcome!
