People were acting crazy all day today at work, and on the road too. I live in the middle of the FL panhandle, and that little storm is coming in this direction. I've been here through about a dozen, and it's a good excuse for a party. As long as you don't live on the water, that is. Very few of the people are staying calm. The stores are all sold out of water, plywood and generators, and there's people scalping others by selling that kind of stuff on the side of the road by using signs to advertise. People who usually don't sell that kind of thing. Jerks. I'm probably going to leave for this one though, since my boat has no insurance on it now, and I have as much $ or more in it then a lot of houses I've lived in. Work tomorrow as usual, and then hook up the boat to the Bronco and head north. Been a while since I've had a road trip.
When they were predicting last week that Ivan was going to cut a path right thru Orlando, I said they were nuts. I predicted it would hit the western edge of the panhandle, along with the coasts of AL and MS (another Camille). Now that they're agreeing with me, I'm changing my prediction: landfall will be somewhere between Cancun and Houston, possibly as far north as New Orleans.
Steve, come head up here to north Alabama! There are lots people coming up here to Monte Sano State Park (where i work) from Florida. You can camp out for a few days on a campsite, and I can talk to my manager and get him to let you park your boat hidden from the public. Plus, this could be a good chance to meet a fellow FTE member!
