I would like to say thank you for the responses. Seems I found a good shop where the mechanic knows his stuff. I got on it this weekend a few times, ran like a champ. The people around me gave me strange looks when I got on it.

I don't think you let these connections fly off for performance gains....
I think you let them stay off to keep the trash from reentering your system....

Tj 82 The light does not come on right away, it came on after the 2nd startup. After you plug the egr back in, the light will go off after a few startups. Does anybodt know the answer to my question about blocking the exaust into the egr cooler? By the way, i took the exaust loose and looked into the egr cooler and it was pretty dirty with soot already, my truck has less than 1000 miles on it. This can't be good for the engine.

Just thought I would share my observations with EGR. I read through the thread last week and thought I would try it to see what would happen. My truck is an F350, CC, 4x4, Predator w/100HP tune, everything else stock. In stock form the truck would see a peak of 26psi at WOT once it hit full temp. With the Predator it would hit 28-29psi under the same conditions. Last Friday I unplugged the EGR and the truck felt slightly different at part throttle but weaker at WOT. The boost gauge confirmed it as the truck wouldn't see anything over 24-25psi of boost at WOT at full temp. I left it this way for 2 more days and never saw a change in boost pressure.

Today I checked it again and sure enough no more than 24-25psi, then I plugged the EGR back in and right back to 28-29psi. Now I don't know if removing the throttle blade could have got the boost back.

I removed the 't' exaust fitting and put a blank plate to stop the flow into the egr cooler. The engine seems to have lost power, especially at speeds over 50 mph. The engine light comes on also, there must be some kind of sensor for the egr pressure. The ac seems to be about the same, although the condesor coil buts up against the radiator, there may be some heat absobed through the condensor coils from the heat of the egr in the engine coolant. I will probably just remove the blank plate and just leave the egr functional. Since the engine light comes on with the egr blocked, putting a dummy egr valve will probably make it come on also. Ford must have programmed the computer on the 05's to check the egr flow.

Never had my '04 PSD "die" at a light. Either with or without the ECG disconnected. Off the line at the light ... noticably better with dicsonnected ECG. No noticable difference on the road once RPMS above about 1300 consistantly.

ECG disconnect just makes it "pump" off the line...no power change on the road or for towing. Transmission knows both situations, no "learning" by shift computer is required for Torqshift.

Awesome combo any way you do it. Disconnecting the EGR gives much better response off the line, otherwise nothing to gain.

Choose your preference based on your build and venue..CA certified engines are out of luck? '05's very questionable. Early '03's sucked anyway, so why bother?

My early 03 ran better than 04 does, it just didn't last as long.

Hey, I haven't seen a post on this subject from a Canadian manufactured truck owner. I pulled the EGR today, and it says from my code scanner that it has MIL ON and code P0127, which is intake temperature too high????? No engine light, or in fact any light, just these code indications. I am going to connect the computer up to it tomorrow at work and see if it still says the same thing. The little code reader may not be telling all. Anyway, if any Canada trucks aside from mine have been disconnected, I would like to know your experience, as I thought Canadian was close to Californian EPA standards.

Let me clarify something...you did unplug the EGR while the engine and ignition was off, correct?

Well, I hooked the computer up and lo and behold - MIL OFF and NO codes. I guess my little code checker is fubar. It uses the same protocol converter hookup, but I guess there must be something wrong in the programming. Have to contact the vendor. Anyway, for Canadian made truck owners - disconnecting the EGR seems to be okay, and does not through any codes. Who knew.

Could you clarify this...can I leave the EGR plug diconnected on an 04 Cal truck and disconnect the batteries and that will clear the light for good...or
is this for non-Cal trucks....or
is this after I reconnect the EGR?

Thanks
P.S. If I was not lied to more states than just Cal require Cal emissions ratings-like New York, Mass, and a few more.

Heres an idea, machine A alluminum adaptor to into the egr hole to plug it off, Then the adaptor will have A hole in the top of it for the egr valve to bolt in. This should keep the computor happy.
