I know this may not be the best forum for this question, but super duty guy's do seem to have the best photos in your gallery's. I need help getting good quality photos in my gallery. If you take a look in my gallery you'll notice that my photos are not the best. I am using the company DVR (Canon ZR10) to take still pictures and uploading them using Windows XP built in picture viewer. Please give me some better suggestions; Camera, technique, software, something.
After searching through the instruction manual, the closest thing to a pixel number for still photos is 290k pixels. Since this is a Digital Video Camcorder, they don't say outright what the pixel count is, like digital camera would. Sorry.
That may be part of the problem - a digital video camcorder rather than a digital camera . I'm no expert, but I don't think the stills from a camcorder turn out as well as from a still-only digital camera.

I was really hoping you wouldn't say that. My wife's hobby is photography and she keeps saying she wants to replace her older cameras with newer digital cameras. Unfortunately, comperable digital cameras to replace her Nikon and Canon w/lenses will run about $6k-8k. And she refuses to let me get one of those "cheap" cameras. It's not the money that's the issue, we make enough to easily afford it, but $6k-$8k for cameras that aren't going to be used professionally seems like overkill.
Ouch, $6-8k for a camera... she must have nice Nikons if a comparable digital costs that much. Granted, I don't know that that is the problem, but it may be. I'm just pretty sure that camcorders are known for their video, not stills.
Take $200 of your mad money and buy yourself a compact Nikon Digital camera, say around 3 or 4 Mega Pixels. It will take great pictures of your truck or anything else in a quality which far exceeds the requirements to post on the internet. The camera is small enough to fit in your shirt pocket and she won't even know you have it.........
When she does find out about it, she'll be jealous that you are taking such great digital pictures before she can....
OR...
take $7900 of your $8k and have a PARTY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
then buy a $7 walmart throwaway camera...
have them process it and put it on a cd and upload from there
(I don't usually do this, but can be done...)
And fyi - my mini-dvd camcorder cann take stills that look great in FTE...
the gist of it is to use windows movie maker to capture ONE view and save it as a jpeg...
but that's the quick version... won't go into movie making here

It's not just the cameras, it's also the lenses for these things. You need to apprentice as a photography assistant or take classes to use them. And it's probably a better bet that I'm the problem with the camcorder.

It would be more than jealousy, it would be blasphemy. Besides, this is the same woman that has no problem with me dropping $1200 on a 4.5" lift kit, $400 for steering stabilizers, and switching-out the brand new tires it came with for BFG Mud-Terrain's, all the day after it was brought home. And she helped me install the lift. Would you go behind her back? Besides, I'm the one who stupidly said, "no, no I can take the pictures myself." Famous last words.

Now your talking. I don't what kind of party you can throw for $7900, but I'm sure it will involve local law enforcement.
Well do u have a scanner?
Take some nice pics with her film camera, and scan in the pics. Or take them to one of those places that scan pics and put them on a CD.
