Concur about the surprise "rock fest" with the bfg''s
but great thing about the bfg's is
they LOOK good...
and they wear super !!!
Have 34k+ miles on them and the ONLY wear on them is from before I swapped out the marginal stock shocks ...
Had some cupping if I dared go past 4500 miles before rotation...
now with the rancho 9000 adjustables have gone a LOT more than 5k and no cupping...
The air bags were installed through the Dealer from a local installer. Went with Firestone and skipped the gauges this time since I rarely ever changed the pressure. Almost always went with 10psi
Even with the stock tires, I get a lot of rocks flinging off once I get back on the highway. On the positive side, I find it much more effective than those "no tailgating" bumper stickers for anyone that follows too closely. How do you think BFG AT TA 295's would be in terms of clearance and handling?
I've read several posts where forum members had problems with 03 Excursions to the extent that Lemon Laws were invoked. I was just curious what kind of problems were prevalent on these vehicles. Thanks, Jim
Nanuke... I'm in the process of going throught the buy back. Did they make you pay for the mileage on your X and did they make you pay for an "up" fee for the difference in the years? Thanks. Brian
Lemon Laws are there to protect the consumer if you truly have a problem vehicle. I build custom homes for a living and its always amazed me to see the difference in people's perception of items that are "wrong" with the house. The same applies to vehicles. Some quirks and adjustments are the norm with every vehicle and how you approach dealing with them depends on what type of person you are, i.e. ignore it or get it fixed. I'm pretty easy going and don't get too excited about little things but the 2003 x I had was in the shop for almost 50 days in the first year. Ford was excellent in working with me once I had proved to them I had problems. I wouldn't recomend to anyone that you pursue the lemon law unless you are positive you qualify.
thanks nanuke1. Oh ours definately qualifies. Owned it 3 1/2 months and it's on it's 3rd rear end now among other things. Just wondering if you went through the dispute settlement board only or did you have to go through lemon proceedings to get satisfaction? Thanks
Nanuke1,
I have been wondering about the new 05 Ex. I have a 2000 Ex v10 with 70k miles. I have had no problems with this truck, and I use it for my part time job too. I've been toying with trading up to the 05 with the 6.0, but I saw where you're getting only 14 or so mpg. I get 11 in town and 13 on the highway. After reading your comments I'm not sure that trading up is the going to benefit me. Please give me some of the other benefits of the new 6.0 since you've been driving it for a while.
Thanks,
Crewsr
I am assuming you went with the 285-75R16 BFG T/A KO's?
I am picking up my 05 PSD on Monday, and am going to try and get them to change the tires too? How exactly did you go about it? Just ask or did it take some "pursuading"?
