Hello, <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
I have a 1994 F250 with a 7.3l turbo diesel and it has been great. But over the last few weeks it has started to stall when the RPMs drop from about 2000RPM or higher. It starts and ideas without any problems. It is a big problem when you are slowing down to turn and engage the clutch and rpms drop it Stalls. This seems very odd as it only happens when the RPMs are up over 2000, and only when they come down fast. If the RPMs come down slowly it is OK.<o></o>
you can try installing a fuel filter, but most times it will not help, i will tell you how to fix this problem if the filter dose not help, reamove the filter empty it fill it with atf, mercon dextron, a lot of people will tell you this is not good, im telling you it works, i have worked on these engines since they went in to production, you may half to repete this a couple of times, your outher choice is anouther pump anyway, the problem the govoner weight assembly is varnished up and is sticking.
I tried a new filter and that didnt help. I will try the atf and let you know how it works out. Then maybe a new injector pump.
Thanks for all the help.
Turn up the idle screw (if equipped). Mine does the same thing every other year or so. The idle backs down due to vibration over time. I have fixed this exact problem on mine 3 times within the last 6 years by just turning up the idle slightly.
