PLEASE ADVISE!!! New to diesel, planning to purchase one
I captured a lot of great suggestion from this forum.
I am considering to purchase a 2003 Lariat Ford 250 Crewcab 4x4 with FX4 package with 7.3 PSD in it, with some 3" lifts on the suspension, new tire and chrome wheels. Mileage is my concern, it is 125K and the price is $27K.
I really appreciate for your advice if will I be getting a fair deal on this? Because the dealer is saying mileage doesn't matter for the diesel engine it will run easy 500K with proper maintenance.
If so, what are the items to look in under the hood and drivetrain before buying?
New to this board and I need some assistance please...
Thank you in advance...

Reason: add more info
At 125k, it's just getting woke up. Per other threads, you should check the inside of the turbo inlet pipe for dust (filter bypassed?), and the amount of anticavitation coolant additive (DCA). If automatic, look for clear red fluid color & no burned smell. If all is well, price sounds fair to me.
Yeah....if the coolant is green, then it takes the additive. If the coolant is yellow, then it does not. Wasn't 2003 the changeover year for the coolant? Maybe mid-year or something. If only I still had my memory.........
Thank you very much for your comments and suggestions. When I go the back to the dealership I am now confident to ask them and show me what I need to know base on your comments. Hopefully everything goes well.
I have very high regards to all of you... Kudos to all.
