ok bear with me because im kind of in the dark when it comes to suspension and wheel size.
new pics in my gallery shows the first one circled in yellow what i believe to be the tie rod end. is this supposed to be tight or loose? it moves pretty freely up and down like it needs to be tightned. by the way my truck wants to bounce wherever it wants to when i hit a bump. the tires in my gallery do not have weights on them for balance. they are 35's front ones are in good shape but the back ones dont look to good.this could also be part of my problem. also have pics of my steering column and its not loose and the box is secured pretty tight. can anyone give me any input on this? i did do a search and found a lot of info. i believe my rag joint could stand to be replaced also. thanks in advance
That joint circled in yellow should have no movement or slop in it at all. If the nut is loose it may have wallowed out the hole and the both parts may need replacing also.
added 3 more pics to my suspension gallery. everything i have circled in yellow are loose, not tight at all. can i just replace the bushings for the tie rods and the verticle shock or do i need to replace the tie rod, shock, etc. also i dont know what the bar im showing in the pic going under the oil pan but it is bent a little. do i need to replace this or is it ok? i hope to just replace the bushings, if thats the case where do i get them (part#, help section?) would really like to get this on the road. missed this weekend's mud run but would like to be ready for the next. thanks in advance everyone, appreciate all the help.
I just got done doing this exact repair on my truck. From the joints you have marked, I'd say you need both tie rod ends, a drag link. If the drag link connection to the pitman arm has come loose and wallered out the hole, you'll need to replace the pitman arm as well. The rubber you see around the joints is just a seal cup to keep the grease in and the dirt out....there are no "bushings" on the tie rod ends or the drag link.
If the bent rod under the oil pan attaches to the driver side frame and the axle on the passenger side, then it is the track bar. It prevents side to side motion in the axle, and it supposed to have a bend in it. This bar does have bushings that are replaceable. It looks like you've got some leaks under your truck, which will destroy the rubber bushings and cause VIOLENT shaking as the axle cycles back and forth. I put polyurethane bushings in mine and it made a HUGE difference.
The bushings on the stabilizer are also easily replaceable. Jeff's Bronco Graveyard has just the bushings for this if you don't want to replace the whole thing.
i figured the tie rod ends needed to be replaced and the leak is from my old p/s unit (since replaced) im still learning this suspension stuff but which one is the stabilizer bar? the description you gave for the track bar is just that. thanks for that fast response. i dont want to drive this on the highway untill i make sure everything is tight under there. thanks
i figured out what the stabilizer bar is from the parts store list but when i looked up tie rod ends it lists outer and inner, and different lengths and so on. found the drag link part though and it has the same thing as the tie rod ends but only listed for 2wd.i guess ill take it off and carry it with me to the parts store
