94 B4000 code help (181,186,189)
I ran the codes on my 94 B4000 truck and i get 181, 186, 189
i have looked at the code list but am stumped on what to do with the codes. the engine light on the truck comes on when under strain, on like a hill and also i have noticed the RPM's of the truck are acting kinda weird. it used to run about 55 MPH at 1500 RPM and lately it has been running 55 MPH at 2300 RPM. Any ideas on what the trouble might be?
any help would be great Thanks

Also given the fact this is a 10 year old vehicle, when last was the fuel filter changed????
Given the problem occurs on a hill when more fuel delivery is necessary & it isn't getting it, as the mixture is going lean on cylinder bank 1 & 2, along with a long pulse width on the injectors, as the computer tries to make up for the lean mixture by firing the injectors longer, to get that extra fuel into the mix of things, it would seem to be a fuel delivery problem of some sort.
So then the fuel pressure regulator, filter, fuel pump, restricted return line, bad gas cap, ect, ect, come to mind as possibilities.
Good feed back Nvextreme
Good to hear you nailed the culprit, what made you suspect the MAF????
Dirty air getting by the air filter somehow????
PS. i was suprized that so little dirt could cause a problem like that. you could barly see the dirt.
PSS. i did go and buy a fuel pressure tester and the safety torx bits to check the Fuel pressure regulator and the MAF. its always good to have thouse tools in the garage
though i did not use the Fuel pressure tester yet. next on my to do list.
