I have a 1999 Ranger XLT Supercab with automatic and a 3.0 V6. I want to purchase a modular trailer harness. It would appear that trucks with a towing package do not require a taillight converter. How do I find out if my truck was factory equipped with a trailer package? It has factory installed oil coolers and a block heater. I bought the truck used and did not get the owners manual or factory paperwork.
Thanks,
Joe
Thanks for the help. I probably need to order a good manual for this truck since I plan to keep it awhile.
I found a pigtail with a round connector tie wrapped to the bumper support immediately behind the license plate. It has a plastic cap over it. I assume this is where the harness adapter should plug in.
It IS the connector. You just need an adapter for it, the truck comes with one from the factory, search the truck just in case you might have one. Since you plan to tow, might want to see if you have a tranny cooler that's big enough.
