this site is probably easier to get around in than I am smart, so I'm gonna post the same message again since i can't find out how to respond to messages on here. anyway, I have an 87 broncoII 2.9 liter electronic fuel injectd truck. a few weeks ago it started stallin out when drivin..like it was out of gas. I changed both fuel filters on it and that helped for awhile. then it died and had to be towed home. i thought maybe the high pressure fuel pump was goin out and talked to a guy at a parts house. He told me to check for voltage at the pump..if there was voltage there, then the pump was bad..if there wasn't, then the fuel pump relay was bad, which made sense. so I was lookin for the relay and accidentally touched a wire comin off the battery. The relay clicked and the pump came on. So I fixed that problem with new wire and the truck ran good for awhile. Then it died again a few days later so I bought a new relay, thinkin that was the problem. It wasn't. I'm at a loss as to what to do now. Thinkin maybe I should just float test the truck and run it off in the river. Any help anyone can give would sure be appreciated
1st thing I'd do: get a wiring diagram.
2nd thing: get a voltmeter
Then step through the wiring to the fuel pumps until you figure out where the circuit is open/shorted. I know it can be a tedious way to do it, but I think it's the best way to track down a problem like this.
