Lift on 2WD 72 F100?
Hello,
This fall I am going to begin my disc brake I beam swap. In the process I would like to replace the front springs with taller ones to increase the height and put blocks in the back to compensate. I was thinking of a 2=4" lift. How high can you lift the front by springs before messing all the geometry up? I want to run 31" tires on it but don't want them to look "too big"...
My ole Ford is starting to get intimidated by those "big plastic trucks" on the road nowadays. Just trying to give it a confidence builder.

you can lift a ford with the front coils, but it will throw the geometry way off real quick. anything above stock is a no no. i have run 31s on stock 2x4 trucks with no problem, even ran 32s on 1 without any rubs. if you have to have a lift, body lift would be the best thing for you to do, i m h o.

Well, one problem is that my truck has coil springs originally intended for a 302... It currently has a 400M and will have a 460 in the spring.... So I am trying to get it to ride at the stock ride height + a few inches at most. 2-3 inches over stock really makes that much of a difference? I never would have thought!

Here you go:
3 inch lift
5 inch lift
Kinda expensive though...
If it were me i would do a shackle flip in the rear instead of blocks, or else you may have axle wrap problems (especially with a 460)

Another option, though I don't know what alignment problems might occur, is to flip the front I-beams upside down. I saw a truck here that was done that way. Though he may go through a set of tires every six months. It does give you about 4 inches of lift on the front end.
I would probably lean more towards fabricating lowering brackets for all the front mounts myself. The end result would be cleaner and if done properly would keep your geometry on track.
