Fuel filter leak

I have a small leak at the fuel filter on my 351M. It is leaking right where the filter screws into the carb. I have tried 3 different filters, they all leak. I am concerned that the threads in the carb may be damaged. Any suggestions on a fix??

You are probably correct in the stripped out thread's. The carb is very fine threaded and if you put the fitting in the wrong way it won't take much to strip them out. The fuel filter is all the same for that style of carb as far as the length is concerned. I think I have seen a repair kit that was self tapping to screw into the carb but they do not work the greatest. You could be looking for a rebuilt carb. Check the thread's in the carb, you should be able to tell if they are stripped.

You can just modify the system to use a regular fitting down the line, tap the carb for a 1/4" pipe adaptor, and run either steel or rubber line. I have done this on a few trucks, and none ever leaked.
