I bought a used 03 F-250 superduty loaded out. The previous owner installed oversized tires on the truck & I noticed that they are causing rock chips in the rocker panels. Talked to linex about spraying the lower 8-12 inches of each side.
Anyone done this? How does it look? Does it maintain?
I have seen this alot lately. Some people are also doing grill guards and bumpers in line-x, rhino, ect. It looks good when its new, but it will fade. There is a product to bring back the color, so you will probably have to do that once in a while. Also, I think it would be hard to clean because of the texture. Maybe, think about some stainless rocker panel plates, if you like the shiny stuff. Just my $0.02!
I have been wanting to do that for quite some time. Line-X will not cover fading under warranty, but my 2 year old bed liner still looks great! I had my step rails sprayed, and they are very easy to clean and maintain. If they start to look dull, I just hit them with a little 303 [you can use any rubber/vinyl/plastic treatment you like] and they are good as new. I say go for it!

Where would one find these stainless rocker panels?
LINE-X works well. If you're worried about fading, you have 3 options:
1. Apply Just Once on it a few times a year. www.justonce.com It will keep it black and shiney.
2. Have the dealer apply Ultrashield. Ultrashield is a one-time application of a UV topcoat.
3. Have the dealer apply Dupont Nason paint. Nason paint is what most LINE-X dealers use for a color match. Nason is an automotive paint and it will not fade.
