So I'm getting my to-do list in order. I want to Line-X the rocker, inside door edges, and maybe underneath the truck (all in black). I will also be adding a set of Bushwacker fender flares as well. Should I Line-X then as well? Would it look ok? Would it adhere? Should I just leave them black and not bother Line-Xing them? I don't know what would look better. Also, if I got the pocket style fender flares would they be able to be Line-Xed or should I just stick with the smooth styled ones? Decisions, decisons!

 

In my opinion I would not Line-X the fender flares because the Line-X is a rough surface. It will be more prone to collect dirt and mud and therefore will be harder to clean. Either paint them to match or contrast the truck or leave them black.

 

I def think you should get them Line-X, for the very opposite reasons. I think the coating will hold up better than paint! I had my older Toyota Tacoma's whole exterior sprayed with a no-name liner and it worked/looked amazing~ VERY EASY TO CLEAN!!!

I went out and had my pocket fender flares color matched and I wish I had left them stock or had them Line-X/etc! I may still do exactly what you are thinking of doing with the lower body molding and such!

When I got my '97 F150 sprayed with Line X they had a styrofoam cooler on display that was also covered - so I don't think your fender flares will be a problem.

I will be sure to. It might be a little while I have to sell one of my toys so I can pay for my fender flares, Line-X, DP Tuner, gauges, and 4.30 gears that I'm about to do.

 

Go for it. If I had enough money, I would have had my entire truck sprayed!

I wonder how much more the entire truck would weigh sprayed. They estimated the bed liner in my last truck at 200lbs of Rhino. It's pretty dense. Ask the dealer.

 

Yikes, I didn't realize the stuff was that heavy. I'd bet I've probably got 400 lbs of the stuff on mine. I need to take it to the scales again to see.

 

weight only accounts for 5% of rolling resistance. therefore spraying it will still be a good thing.

Ford claims a 1% drop in mileage for every 100lbs of additional weight carried. It in the diesel supplement that comes with the 6.4 in the section covering how to get the best mileage.

 

Where did you pull that spec. out of? Rolling resistance is proportional to the normal force (weight) on the tire.

 

I vote no fender flares, just spray the rig. My front and rear bumpers, steps, rockers (inside the doors), grille guard, and body line all the way around (to include the bottom of the tailgate) are all sprayed.
