Do you have a name and model number fot the code reader at Walmart?
The one where you don't have to listen for the beeps?
I looked all over at the local Wal Mart....No luck. Should it be in Auto section or somewhere else?

The code reader I haveis for models 1981 to 1995, for FORD OBD 1. EEC IV and MCU Domestic vehicles. It is model 3145 .
Its yellow an black color. I don't see a manufacturer unless its a INN (R) VA (R).
I had found it near the floor area where the sparkplugs are, some were hanging on the wire loom and they were all in that location. When you look at it, it'll have a small screen that if you tilt the package, you can see its a digital model. (had the flashing beepin light model before, but couldn't keep up with the flashes when I blinked)
This model also will take a 9v battery in the back so buy one of those too as it doesn't come with one. The instruction manual is pretty thick but its in multi languages and it explains alot about what you should be looking for when pulling the codes for the computer. If you don't get any codes, more than likely you'll have to replace the main computer. Post your results.

Reamer, Yes to both questions, around here the EEC computer is around $100.00 reconditioned, with exchange of the old one...but theres no point in getting another one unless you can't retrieve the codes in the first place..
