I have been advised that my MAF sensor is gone. I have tried to find a used one where I live but all the stores only have sensors with different part number. The one I have is f57f-12b579-CA and theirs ends in a DA. Does anyone know if both sensors are compatable or what. THe sensor is for a 1997 aerostar AWD 4.0 Ltr.
Here is a Ford site to look up part numbers and parts interchanges. http://www.motorcraft.com/
At the home, pick any parts group and put in your year and FORD, at the next page, click on the "Interchange" link on the left side of the page and put your part number in. It should come back with various applications and years of use. Usually, the suffix at the end denotes an upgrade or other minor manufacturing/vendor change but as long as the middle part numbers match the part should work fine. MAF sensors are rather expensive as you may have found out. Sometimes just cleaning them will restore functionality. May be worth a shot before replacement. Do a search on MAF sensor on this forum.

ON EDIT: Never mind. I just tried putting your part number in the search link above and could not find anything relevant. I occasionally use that link to cross reference parts listed on eBay but for whatever reasons, neither of your numbers show up.
