no spark

help!!!! no spark on my 90 f150 4.9 straight 6 cyl,changed the coil,changed to part on the side of the distributor(the name slips my mind at the moment) plugs,wires,cap,rotor all ok.now what? dont know where to look now ?

just curious, have you check the ecm (computer) codes?

no spark

no i have not,not sure how to do that,i thought the truck had to be running to do such a thing?

ecm check

Buy a code reader for your ford at any parts store or walmart. It has the book and instructions included dont need to be running but does need a charged battery.

You don't need a code reader to check the codes. Get a Haynes manual or go to http://fordfuelinjection.com and click on "Getting Codes" to see the procedure.

http://fordfuelinjection.com is a great site, is how i learned to pull codes in my 90 f150. they have alot of very usefull info there

No you dont need a code reader but seeing he never done it before and the simplicity of the tool. Hmmm for 29.99 at the max figure what the hay it reminds me off K.I.S.S. And no not calling anyone stupid.
But yes you are correct a voltmeter will suffice.
