Okay, since I'm about to take the TB off to get to the TPS, do you guys have any tips for housecleaning I could do to possibly increase mileage or response? I don't want to do anything uber-intensive as I only have about 6-8 hours worth of time to spend on it in the next day and a half, but any little tips here and there would be greatly appreciated.
they say to use throttle body cleaner to clean the tb;do not use carburator cleaner. Just clean it up real good in and out with a little brush or something, with the tb cleaner. And watch out for the gasket there, cause its pretty easy to mess up if your not thinkin. Maybe try cleaning up some of the gunk inside the manifold if you make sure u can get it out.
How about tips on how to get the screws that hold the TPS loose? :grr: I've finally gotten to them and now I can't get them loose. Tried everything I can think of. In short "Help!"
I used gumout carb spray and a stiff brush, Make sure you remove all IAC valve and TPS before cleaning. I didn't have a problem removing the bolts just try a little harder (maybe try tapping bolts on the head with a ball pein hammer to shock the threads a little). Use antisieze on the threads when you put them back. You might want to clean EGR valve and spacer while apart.
When you are done truck will idle a lot smoother.
Good Luck
