Arrow coolant system

i am having a problem with my cooling system periodically over heating
i have changed the thermostat, flushed the system, and keep the radiator free from debri. is there anyone that may have had this problem, or can give me other ideas to what the problem could be. i would appreciate any help.
also the over heat occurs while driving, not just idleing. like i said it is speratic, not everyday.

It could be a couple of things including the water pump, but take a few moments and search FTE for over heating problems and you will find several discussion threads addressing this same issue.

At the top of this page is a Search button, it will open a search window. Or you can go to a specific forum and search that forum only, this button is a little lower on the page.

Verify that the fan is engaging when the engine is hot. When you're done driving around, jump out and look under the hood before you shut the engine off. The fan should be spinning.

roger,
thanks for the advice. i have checked the fan. it spins fine. i'm leaning toward some sludge periodically causing a blockage, or my water pump may be nissing some fins on the impeller. not sure though. thanks again for the post though.

You know, 700 posts and that's the first time anyone has given me any reputation points I feel like I'm in with the cool group now!

Sounds like you've pretty much narrowed it down to the water pump or a plugged radiator. Since you were able to flush the sytem I'd say the radiator is fine. Might be time to take it in. Unless you want to tackle the water pump yourself

I'm sure Dave will be by anytime to deliver his wisdom on the subject.

Have you had your rad cap tested?
