My 1997 F350 has trouble shifting into reverse. It goes into detent fine but you have to push and hold it down further than the detent to make it go in and start moving. You would think that you would have to hold it there but it seems to stay then. Does this sound like just a simple attitude adj., like a bent shift fork or syncronizer or is there a simple adj. It is a 5 speed
Sounds like ,you either have a bent shift fork or the glide pads that fit in the selector synro have wornout or fell out.
Do all other gears shift fine no grinding or won't go completely in?
I'm trying to remember what tranny that is Thats before zf's
is it an M5od ????? guessing
did you take the shifter boot off an look at the shifter mount ,maybe something loosened up and your not getting complete throw of the lever.
