Tranny Questions
HI all, I am new to the site and am scrambeling thru the forum to see if I can find any help. Here it goes, Have a 99 F-350 114k and replaced trans at 55k no problems with anything ather than thatbeen a great truck. Had the tranny oik changed last week 1000k or so ago working fine. coming home from work this am the O/D light started flashing and felt like I lost first gear (memories of first trans loss). got home checked the fluid OK, restarted and seems to work OK in the drive after restart. I'm sure there are post about this problem and I will check today with time any help is appreciated before I give a shop my credit card and turn em loose. Shouldn't a tranny last more than 55K?

I have been having the same problem (OD light flashing and intermittent first gear missing) dealer found that a loose electrical connection to a solenoid on the transfer case was the problem.

The flashing OD light means the computer has found something wrong with the transmission, wiring, or electronics. You need a Ford specific scan tool to read the code that has been stored in memory to find out what's wrong. It could be something very minor.

thanks for the HELP all. Took truck to a friends trans shop he hooked up the scanner and found a code, We went for a test ride and there was no 1st gear. Sitting at a red light he said "Well I think it's Broke" and accelerated from the light and it shifted HARD from 1st to 2nd. Has worked perfect since then we cleared the codes ...No new codes and the O/D light quit flashing he said the valve body may have been sticking but seem to be cured ....Thanks for the quick help this morning.
