Smashed my elephant ears!
Me and another SD clipped mirrors driving down a 2-lane road yesterday, scared the living daylights out of me!! Just driving along, everything was fine, then BASH! glass and plastic are flying all over me, as I had my window down. I got some small cuts on my arm from the glass, but the steering wheel has a deep gouge, thank god that was there or that gouge would have probably been in my stomach! His mirror was obliterated, pretty much gone, mine had the upper and lower glass fly out, but the shell was ok except for two small cracks on the backside.
I found the backing plate to the upper flat glass in my rear seat, and the lower convex mirror was sitting betwixt my legs. I got the upper replaced for $20, but the glass shop wanted $110 for the little convex mirror! WTF?!?
Anyone know where I can get a replacement mirror for less??

mikewrt, my mirror is pretty much intact except for two cracks on the back side of the housing, the other guys mirror was. . .gone. . .only things left were the two arms and the mirror motors. As we were talking, I spotted his mirror shell in the middle of the road, which promptly was ran over by a car.
