89 E150 Transmission Info
Have an 89 E150 conversion van. It has a fuel injected 302. Automatic Transmission with o/d. Problem, transmission id is either 1, l, I, or possibly T. It is not clear. Anyway need to know the transmission, whether the tork converter has a plug to drain it, approximately how many quarts of ATF and type. And would appreciate any advise. Earle

It's probably an AOD but could also be an E4OD. Does it have an overdrive lockout button on the end of the shift lever? Does the shift pattern look like: P R N OD D 2 1 or does it look like: P R N D 2 1 ? If it has the PRND21 and a lockout button on the shifter lever, it should be an E4OD. Otherwise it would be an AOD. The AOD has a 14-bolt oil pan. The E4OD I think is 21 bolts. The AOD pan may also have 'AOD' stamped in it.
I'm not sure how many quarts they take on a full drain/flush.
If the torque converter has a drain plug, you should be able to see it by removing the dust cover and rotating the converter around.
