Question Power steering problem

I have a 1989 Ford F-150 XLT Lariat 4x4. I just replaced the high pressure line on the power steering pump. The one I took off had some kind of plugin on it..the one I put on did not. Can anyone tell me what kind of plugin it was and what it went to?

Taking a guess. Automatic trans. trucks had a switch for the power steering so the computer would compensate for the extra load when turning by increasing the engine rpm.

When you say plug-in, do mean an electrical connection?
