It has probably gotten colder this fall already here in Montana, than Missouri will get all next winter. A block heater cord would not be of concern if I lived there!!! Of course, that is just my way of thinking.
Well not so far this year. Last year we had a couple night about -5, we had a 2-3 inch accumulative ice storm depending on what part of missouri. That sucked really really bad. My entire truck was sheated in 2 inches of ice. Had to bust out the 100 watt light bulb in the shop light just to be able to open the door. Then of course snow. The wind here in winter however (usually 10 to 25mph) will take temps well below 20.
Best of Luck,
Corey

P.S. According to the Weather Channel, our average nights last winter was 21 degrees, with an average wind chill of about 13.. I HATE WINTER!! What a great day today though, it's about 90 right now. WAHOOO!!!

nitto makes a great "looking" tire for an 18........... not sure how it would work in snow or ice, but it is very menacing looking! the "mud grappler".....
Tim - Zero not often thank you very much - but cold enough to freeze your whatever off in deer camp. I never unrolled the cord for the block heater on the 04 but knew where it was. I keep the truck in the garage which never freezes but could plug it in at work if we got a blast from Minnesota. Where are you RealMen?

I spend the majority of my time in Florissant MO, but during the summer and deer season I'm usually in Macon MO.
The reason I can't find the cord for the block heater on my 05 is there is NO block heater! My dealer assumed the block heater would be standard on the diesel as in years past - wrong. He has to eat the expense of the heater and installation and I have to spend a day getting it done. When ordering a 05 make sure your dealer includes the darn thing!

Hey Bubba,
I posted this earlier but I guess some folks missed it.
This is straight from the ford bulletin......
2005 Block Heater Option: All 2005 F-Series and Excursions with the 6.0 PowerStroke have a block heater installed on the engine. However, the cord for the block heater must be ordered as an option (code 41H). The cord is installed on vehicles originally sold in the following states: Alaska, Colorado, Iowa, Maine, Minnesota, Missori, North and South Dakota, and Wyoming. Broadcast Message 1512, 3090
YOu have the heater, just not the cord, so I'm assuming that means you truck asn't originally for sale in Missouri, perhaps it was for sale in a nearby state like Illinois and you ended up with it...
I have a 2005 F 250 and it came with the 18"'s and they look sweeeet, BTW I had a build date of last month I don't know that makes a difference. My truck came from Wisconsin should it have the cord I have yet to check also what is the Hood Blanket? THANX
RealMen - No, I special ordered the truck from a Missouri dealer - it was delivered from final assembly to him. He is a great guy and will fix the situation. It sounds like a simple thing to fix according to what you say. Kurt

Unless the dealer added the cord, then no you don't have the heater cord. The hood blanket works as a fire blanket and also as a sound mat. It is no longer standard on the 05's. However you can use/order the same blanket that is in the previous super dutys.

Did you end up they end up giving you a hood blanket? How do you like the new radio compared to the 03/04 radio.
Corey - Yes they gave me the hood blanket - took about 2 minutes to change. I think the radio sounds better than the 04 but I'm not a very good judge of that - shot too many guns over the years. I passed your information about the broadcast to my dealer - thanks! Kurt
Corey - I found the block heater plug and my dealer has ordered the cord - thank you very much for the information! As usual, there is information on this forum that the dealer doesn't know about! Kurt

Hey Bubba,
Glad to be of help. One thing I am not clear on, is if the cord plugs into a harness, or it is hard wired in to the wires of the block heater. Did you get a good enough look to tell?
Best of Luck,
Corey

P.S. If you get a chance post some pics of your new truck so we can all see.
RealMen - It plugs right into the heater on the block located passenger side near the back. It is a round receptacle with two prongs and is threaded on the outside. The truck should be cold for the install as the heater is near the exhaust manifold and other stuff that will burn you. It is in fact hard wired into the heater itself which has no cord on the heater end - just the plug. Since this is a 120v item is goes straight to the AC outlet. BTW, my dealer told me yesterday that the cords "are on national back order" - go figure. Anyway, it will be several months before I would ever need it. Kurt
