I have a 90 302/AOD 4X4 that skips (or mis-fires) at low RPM under load. I've started to notice that it is doing it when idling also. Any ideas where too start?
Hello, fellow broncs, I am new but I have the same prob with a 90 302 bronco. I have replaced plugs, wires, cap rotor button, distributer, EGR valve, map sensor, cracked manifolds, timming chain and gears, tested other sensors acording to hayes manual, also fuel filter. All made no difference.I have no codes in the obd, and talked to a ford mechanic, which he suggest take it to the service department. My bronco also has an intake backfire some times. The skip and backfire only happens at low speeds under a pull, otherwise the truck runs good. Also I set the timming, and changed the spout connector.Parts are mainly motorcraft.
Thank You Steven@nd for the info. I talked to the ford mech. and he looked at my routing, thought it was o.k. He is leaning more toward injectors, but the problem doesn't do it all the time, and is real bad sometimes fuel mileage quite bad also. THANKS AGAIN
Thanks for follow up. I already have a copy of this TSB and this was the first thing I checked! I've tried cap & rotor. Plugs are next and then wires. Keep your fingers crossed!
