ok guys and gals i got a good one here i got my cab almost back together. its wired up and im working on the door openings i think i got them about right but im worred because im looking at about 1/8 inch gap on each side of the door and im worried about troubles opening and closing them. so whats everyone got for gaps around the door and then im like 6 setps away from my cab being done.
i know alot of the newer trucks are all 1/4 inch so here i come again for advise.
The repair manual for my 55 specifies 5/32". Wish I could get that on my new cab off resto. My gaps vary from 1/4 to 1/2 and can't get them properly adjusted.

it is hard to judge the gaps comparing old to new . bare in mind that ford was only making vehicles for about40+ years when your 56 was built. and they did not have the knowledge as they have now. if you can find a happy medium in the gaps that you are ok with it will probably be fine. i have done resto work for over 14 yrs and you can have 2 or more of the same older vintage car or truck side by side and they will most likely be different. good luck . 1956 is a very nice style good luck i hope this was of some value.
yea my worry is a rub as i dont own a body shop and cant have it painted once a week lol. it really looks funny with no roof and no floor. also you know that nice tie wire sure tops the cake i gotta get a pic of this.
