Even though I am VERY happy with my F-150 screw, I do have a couple of minor compliaints, one of which is the windshield wipers IMHO seem to be flimsy and don't work very well.
Does anyone have any aftermarket solutions for this ??
Bosch make a really nice set of blades that will work wonders. Also, RainX, either the stuff you apply to the windshield or the stuff you pour in the resevior really helps.
I haven't noticed a problem with my wipers. In any event, I have used rainx for years and it works great. Kind of a pain to apply, but worth it when bugs splatter or when you have to scrape in the winter time.
I think Ford has always used the cheapest, POS wiper blades they can find. I'm always amazed as to how many we replace here so frequently on new vehicles. I don't think this problem is restricted to just F-150s.

I'm just down the road from you guys... Endicott, Owego area....
I'm witcha wwwjames, I just think the arms are a little weak so I will be changing mine to some billet style. something a little more heavy duty if possible. I have one section on the passenger side that the blade is not making full contact with and if I have the maintenance department replace them I'm sure it'll be the same type so why bother. just go custom!
Rain-X I swear by that stuff! You can have the crappiest wipers and can't tell with Rain-X on your windshield! Having said that, yes, they do appear to be rather flimsy. I also use the use the Rain-X wiper fluid. I rarely have to apply it manually. Maybe a couple times a year. The wiper fluid works surprisingly well (as far as it applying itself on the windshield so you don't have to do it manually) I was skeptical, but it WORKS
yup..got a bottle for Christmas last year and figured it was just a gimmick. Added it to the washer tank and WOW!!! works great. I did my 04 Scab yesterday with the original RainX and today I drove home in a heavy rain (Remnants of Fances) and never turned the wipers on!! RainX is great stuff
I've probably seen RainX advertised but never paid much attention to it because I thought it was just another additive. Just wondering how it's applied and how often, and if it just helps the wipers or beads the rain etc. Sounds neat to me. thanks
They sell 2 types that I'm aware of...One is applied like a wax, although it's water thin. You apply it in a circular motion to the windshield, let it dry to a haze, apply again and then once it has dried again buff it off like a wax. It's hard to get off, but I use a plant mister filled with water. Mist an area and then buff it off. The other type is simply added 4oz to a gallon of washer fluid. Each time you use the washers to clean the windshield, it applies the fluid and the RainX does it's thing. At any speed above 20 or so, you don't even need the wipers. The water runs off the windshield. Wipers work much better also. It's good stuff.
