My recommendation would be the Tymar intake and a 4" exhaust. Quadzilla has posted here many times about a downpipe for the early PSDs that starts at 3" and expands to 3.5" after the firewall. I sent an email to Tymar a while back regarding another part and asked about this downpipe. He said that there is now a downpipe that starts at 3", expands to 3.5" after the firewall, and 4" after clearing transmission lines. I would recommend this downpipe since it will give you the most flow without modifying the firewall. The Tymar intake, the downpipe described above, and a 4" exhaust should flow way more air than you need.

I wouldn't remove the cat unless your state doesn't have inspections. It certainly won't hurt your system though. I'm assuming that you also have at least a pyro gauge already.

I don't mean to hi-jack this thread, but I'm curious as to how much a 4" exhaust will lower egt's over a stock straight pipe. If the outlet of the turbo is 3", that is going to be your greatest point of restriction, something that cannot be changed unless you get a different turbo. So would the 4" exhaust be worth the money to lower egt's? Or is the stock exhaust (straight pipe) sufficient?

sparke454, if you straight pipe the truck it will lower EGT and backpressure, but in turn it will move the power up a few hundred RPM in the powerband.

farmb0y, my truck didn't have a stock exhaust when I bought it so I have nothing to compare it to. Most people would agree that replacing the downpipe on their truck will give the best performance gain, but the downpipe you have on your truck is much better than the stock downpipe on the 94-97 trucks. A 4" exhaust will flow a lot more air than the stock 3.5" pipe. More air through the engine means cooler temps. Maybe someone who has a similar truck can post specific numbers before and after a 4" system.

Yes just recently installed 4inch exhaust and a downpipe that bells to 4inch I got it from motorhaven, supporting FTE. I also installed a tymar intake. THe accelration gain is very significanat and the truck is nice and loud like I like. The turbo reacts quicker as well. These PSD's are awesome!

I have a stainless system 4" turbo back from bassani with straight pipe I think that if you are going to start dumping fuel into the engine you will find 3" won't cut it I must say that with my 4" system that I cooled down 80 degrees with the straight pipe added and it sounds pretty viscious hope this helps.

I have a stainless system from bassani turbo back and it is a must when you start dumping fuel into the engine a 3" just won't cut it if you want to run it hard with a high hp chip,I have straight piped my 4" system and noticed an 80 degree cooler running and it sounds down right viscious hope this helps.

They re-designed the way the signature works. It won't normally show up in the posting box, but if you run your arrow/cursor over where it says signature under your name, it will show up.

fastfreddy-
I'm waiting for you to put some pictures up in your gallery. From what you've written, sounds like you have a pretty sweet truck, I'd like to see some pictures.
