I have a 2004 F350 FX4 crew cab and it's got about 1200 miles on it 6.0 and I'am getting around 13.2 to 13.5 mpg empty. And I thought I would get at least 16 mpg and this is really bad . Took it back to Ford they done a check on the computer and it has all the up to date programs. I was told it will take about 4 oil changes to get any better. I drive a Volvo semi that pulls double trailers and I get about 9.5 to as good as 11 mpg. So you would think that it would get better than that.

mostly highway
75 to 80 mph
hauling anything at that speed isn't that smart.
What type of tires do you have?
do you value your life?
Did you upgrade your brake's, cause I have a brand new 04 f250xlt stroker x-cab, and the brakes aren't that fabulous...
I am dead serious, no bull , all the ways from Chicago to St. louis and back to Chicago wasn't doing the entire way just on open stretches of highway. I was definetly averaging 80 MPH, is it that dangerous? I have the 275 R18 Contico tires, mine is also a 2005 SD if that makes a difference?
Took it in this morning. The service manager called me and told me that "nothing is wrong. The EPA does not specify mileage for these trucks so mine might just get bad gas mileage." Sounds a little fishy to me... Then he tried to give me the Nth degree about how did I know what cetane the diesel was and how Ford has released a statement stating that they "are not buying any more Super Duty's back" Does anyone think this smells a little funny????
Hey Bubba,
I would definately ask for that in writing. If he refuses, explain to the gm, don't leave out his name and the tone he had. By the way FIND ANOTHER DEALER!!! Sounds like half of your problems could have been fixed if it was done right the first time. Just about everyone who had a seal done the 2nd time, took it to another dealer and it works fine now. The majority of problems is most definately dealer influenced. Let us know where you're from and hopefully someone can recommend a great dealer near you. If I was in your position. I would wait on the buyback and give a different dealer a chance. If your dealer can't diagnos your problem in one day and fix it in 7 working days or less. They either are complete idiots, they don't care, or they have a parts changer or gasser tech working on it. Either way, you end up with a series of problems that never end. All because the dealer is too cheap to put a diesel tech on your truck.
Best of Luck,
Corey

Example In Point: Buddy of mine had his truck at his dealer for 21 days and they couldn't find a thing wrong with it. Found out he had a gasser tech working on it. Took it to my my dealer, they diagnosed it in just a few hours, and rebuilt his heads in 4 days. I checked with him this morning, he has since put 11k miles on it and it still runs better than when he bought. Again, it's all about the dealer "IF" something goes wrong.
