I was pulling our trailer home on sunday and back to Sacramento from Reno up the Donner Summit. I usually go at 45-47 mph; however, i was down to 35 mph by the time i reached the summit. I have a F350 crew cab 4-wheel dually with a 460, c-6, and 410 gearing. I was pulling the same weight as many times before, 32ft alpha toy hauler, estimated weight of truck and trailer at 13,000 lbs. Can anyone give me ideas of what my problem may be? Thanks
I have a 1988 460 / c6 / 4:10 on a motor home and suffered a severe loss of power over time. What year is yours?
Found plugged Cat. Evidently it had been getting worse with time. Finally the engine would barely run. Knocked the guts out of the cat and it was like I had a new engine. I installed a new cat. Wish I hadn't.
Then I started messing around with getting more power. New plugs, wires, K&N air filter, adjustable fuel pressure regulator, etc. Also checked all of the TSB's for my year and found several that needed to be addressed to get the thing to run right. depending on the year of your 460 you may need to look at the TSB's to correct the problem.
