why are you going 1 ton in the rear? if so might as well replace the front with a 1ton as well. you wont gain any strength going to the 8 lug ends but still have the 1/2 ton hardware.
Just pick up an 8 lug 44 from a 3/4 ton truck and swap over the outer pieces from the calipers out. I think the axle shaft may or may not be different but you can compare these items during the swap. Another way to see if they are the same is to cross reference part numbers.
There are people that have done the install both ways. Some like the coils better than the leaf spring set up. To install the leafs there is some major frame mods that have to be done but the 60 front axle will need some work as well. Try searching the site for the info before asking.
