[updated:LAST EDITED ON 23-Mar-02 AT 00:11 AM (EST)]I found this sight researching a problem on my wife's 95 Aerostar(3.0). Love all the great info but since I haven't found the answer to my problem so I need some help. First off it has 209,000 miles on it and I change the oil every 3,000. Doesn't smoke and hasn't lost much power. I know, What power? Anyway, the engine is knocking quite distinctively at idle. Couldn't hear it over the normal engine noise driving up and down the street. Haven't driven under load yet myself. It is probably overdue for a tune-up. Could that be a cause? Will the engine being out of time cause this? Timing chain? Or has the 209,000 finally caught up to me? I'm fearing the worst cause what I neglected to tell you was last month my wife told me the van overheated. When I checked it, the radiator was empty y'all! Don't know how many miles she drove it like that but I know it couldn't have been to many. The problem was a broken heater control valve. Fixed it, flushed it, filled it and its been running fine since, until now. Any help would be much appreciated!
