trans / transfer adapter???

trans / transfer adapter???
I am going to put an AOD in my 86. I believe I have the BW-1345 transfer case which came from a 82 F-150. My question is, will any Ford AOD 4x4 adapter work??? I thought I heard somewhere that Ford did not change the mounting point on the front of their transfer cases (making them all universal)???

the t-case adapter needs to be a "tranny-specific" adapter but any t-case will bolt onto the other end. the crossmember rubber mount might need to be changed too. the 2wd tranny is different than a 4wd tranny. the rear output shafts are different lengths.
