Current Recalls

I was just wondering what recalls are out that need to be addressed. The reason I ask is that I was told that they would have been done accordingly with oil changes and so forth. However over the weekend I experience the "Big" blowoff valve towing 9000lbs of ac's to georgia. I have a 2003 F-350 SC LB SRW 6.0, Lariat by the way if that makes a difference.

Thanks,
Corey

I know there are a few tech messages out there, but the latest is changing the belt to one with a new design. Apparently there have been a few trucks that emitt some belt squeal and chirp when shutting down. This happened to me and seems to be directly related to how hot it is outside. Anyway, local dealership is ordering one of those new belts and will install later this week.

on a side note, the belt squeal that I experienced is like a faint "shrill" sound during idle, most noticeable when standing at the rear of the vehicle and when the engine is hot, so it seemes to be resonating through something. Tech at the dealership said that it was "air" flowing through some doo dad that I cant recall and said it was normal. Truck never did it before, or at least not to my knowledge, anyway they applied pressure to different points of my exhaust, I guess to make sure it wasn't that, and it wasn't because the sound was still there. So, long story short, I have that new belt on order and we'll see if it still "shrills". At least it should stop the chirp upon engine shutdown.

Ya know if they can't figure out where the noise is coming from, you can always make more noise to conceal that noise by buying a nice 4" stainless exhaust.. My .02

My 03, 6.0 developed the belt squeal at 2K miles or less. It was the same squeal that comes from some of the combine belts on the farm after setting for the winter. I just applied some penetrating oil on the belt as it was idling and that was the end of the problem. It was still quiet when I traded it for my 05,6.0 at 25K miles. If you are afraid of WD40 then use Olive oil. We use it on flat belts in the shop to soften the leather or rubber. It will not cause any slippage or aging of the belts. It was quicker and easier than taking it to a dealer's shop, which I would have if the squeal persisted. The 05 is a great truck and all I need is more time to cruise around in it, but the soybeans and corn are ready and Florida needs some cleaning before the snowbirds arrive. My thoughts and prayers are with those in our country and also with my friends in Russia as they spend the day in sorry. I pray for a quick resolve to the terrible situation.

Here is a bulletin from Ford:
Serpentine Belt Noise:
Trucks built before 6-1-04 may exhibit belt squeaks or squealing. To correct, use the following belts per application:
F-Series, Single Alternator: 3C3Z-8620-DB
F-Series, Dual Alternator: 3C3Z-8620-BC and -HB (both required)
Excursion: 3C3Z-8620-AC.
TSB #04-14-12

There are only two recalls. One for engine ground strap and another for a emissions label.
