I have a 1995 Ford Aerostar and a 1988 Mercury Sable. I was wondering if someone could please help me out and tell me if the wheels are interchangeable or if they could tell me where I could find that information.
The Aerostar has:
P215/75R14 tires
The Sable has:
P205/75R14
I don't know the offsets, is there any way I could find them out? Thanks a lot in advance, my Aerostar's tires are shot and instead of buying new ones I want to use my car's which have good tread left. It would be a lot easier to change the whole wheel then just the tires so thats what I hope to do.
I wouldn't do this. I don't think the Taurus/Sable wheels are 5-lug, are they? Even if they were, the offset will be different as the Aerostar is rear drive and the Sable front. Also, the load capacity of the Sable tires would be less.
Thanks for the response, I've decided against it since on top of all your reasons, the Sable's wheels are shorter so it will throw the speedometer off. I didn't check if they're 5 lug or not, bt you're probably right, thanks
Aerostar uses 5x4.5" pattern. Sable is 5x4.25", no good. Ford juggles center hole diameter too which screws owners. The center bearing hole is about 2 mm larger than a typical 5x4.5" rear wheel drive Ford wheel used on their Vic, Mark VII, Mustang etc. You can force them on but it takes some grinding. My 16x7" Mark VII wheels with 245/50-16's look real cool on the Aerostar until you turn the wheel and they rub bad. The 14x6" optional aluminum factory Aerostar wheel are about as wide & deep as you can go. Sometimes they get their inner wheelweights knocked/rubbed off with the 4WD suspension. I imagine some of the newer Mustang 15" and 16" wheels might fit if they were in the 6" to 6.5" width.
