In June I graduated from junior college. In July I got a job as an electronics tech at Northrup in LA. In September I joined the Navy under a delayed enlistment program. In December I found myself in boot camp in San Diego. I realized my timing would have been better if I had signed up in Oct.
1967 was a very interesting year. I got to drive round in a really old British Austin A35, that split in half when driving it one day. That was really interesting, got chased by a very large, and very aggressive spider, that repeatedly tried to bite me until I shot the thing.
1967... my family had just moved from Bass Lake up to Trinity County, near a tiny little town called Hyampom. We lived on a huge ranch there, I was in the second grade that winter of '66-'67, had a terrible teacher who put me off math for the rest of my life. Started learning to drive, first in our Land Rover, then a backhoe. Lots of other fragmented memories.... -TD
Got married, got layed off the first time in my life, got another job, bought my first house, bought my first new car.
Must have drank a few beers that year also.
Mom & Dad shared our 1 car, A 1959 VW bug
I was 8 years old, and my sister was 6.
Great neighborhood. We lived on a dead end street. All the kids in the neighborhood where my age. We played baseball in the street ever night in the summer. home plate was right under the street light, so we could play late. It brought a whole new meaning to pop flys.
I was 18 in 1967 and got two years of the Luv , Peace , and Flower Power days
in before getting married in '69 .
Most of the memories of that year are illegal still or could not be posted here .
Ford did make a good truck that year as usual though .
The world was awash in music as the British rock invasion pushed the Beach Boys and the American Pop Music culture to the back burner and Woodstock was still someone's dream .
Like Theo, I was driving around in My 1952 Austin A-40 Saloon (I have a pic) plus, I had bought my 1967 Honda S-90 Motorbike.
On June 1st of that year,I had a Motorbike accident smashing my knee into 40+ pieces.
On Dec 22nd I got my arm caught in a conveyor belt at work.
All in All....Besides listening to the new albums from, The Doors,Beatles & Stones ,Paul Revere & the Raiders,Plus many others including all the new love child songs, I would say it was a pretty good year.
