Cruise Ctrl/Tranny Problem
Went on a 400 mile trip in a co-workers Aerostar. It is a 3.0, about a '95, with 120,000 miles. Anyway, he will run cruise control for a while, then cruise will shut off by itself. After that the tranny will shift back and forth between 3rd and 4th gear, staying for a couple seconds in each gear, then it runs for a while (minutes) in 3rd (or 4th without the lockup) because you can hear the motor revving (no tach). He said he had the tranny fluid changed not long ago. Anyway, just wondered if anyone had that happen so I could tell him about it.

Cruise Ctrl/Tranny Problem
I've never had this happen, but a couple things that affect OD/lockup and cruise control come to mind. The brake on/off (BOO) switch will unlock the torque converter and will also turn off the cruise when the brake pedal is pressed. Throttle position is used in 3-4 shift and torque converter lockup scheduling. Check both of these out and see if they're bad.
