Need help deciphering VIN

Need help deciphering VIN, looking at a 1979 Ford F100 2wd that is supposed to be an Indianapolis Pace Truck. I surely would like to make sure it is what they say it is before I buy it. Any one know about this ?

The VIN Number won't give you that info.

The Rating (Data) Plate might.

Are there any buck tags on it still ?

You will see photos of one here.

Talking figured it out

thanks to all your responses. We got this figured out now.

For the gashog a VIN # is Vehicle Identification Number!!! their like a bellybutton, everyone's got one.

To find out about any vehicle call the ford 800# (800-392-3673) and they will gladly supply you with the build sheet for that particular vehicle for free !!! We got everything we need now.

keep the shiny side up.
