I have an 89 F250 4x4 with a fixed yoke on the rear end & the transfer case. After having to replace the yoke on the transfer case, I then couldn't compress the driveshaft enough to get it inbetween the 2 yokes. My driveshaft has a booted slip shaft built into it. I finally had to hammer the front end of the driveshaft off with a mallet. However I still cannot get the yoke to slide down lower than were the splines end on the main tube even though the yoke would appear to have 2 more inches of travel. What's up???
Also, what type of lube should you use in this application? I tried grease, but I think that just trapped the air in the yoke.
I try to do everyhting myself but meeting a lot of resistance on this project.
I'd appreciate whatever advise anybody could offer.
