CV Joint and Grease Cap
I had the bolts that mount the half-shaft to the transaxle shear on me on the highway. The piece that sits between them, the 'grease cap' (part # 3L387) according to the Ford diagram, is on the road somewhere. Ford, not just the dealer, doesn't stock them and I can't go anywhere without it.
Do YOU know where I can get a replacement???????

Don't know of a source for sure but have you tried NAPA? The one near me that's quite large has some pretty hard to find stuff. The other thing to think about is trying a different dealer. From my own experience, some parts guys are lazy and won't look too hard for a part that has been superceded. Or try some of the shops that specialize in drive axles. There are some online. Or, if all else fails, why not try making one out of some plastic such as it used for coffee can lids or even plastic bag material. A guy I work with has been driving with a ziplock bag in place of a CV joint boot because he can't find a boot that fits. Sort of a hillbilly repair solution, but what the heck, it works and only costs pennies if you have to replace it.
