Rancho Shocks

I am looking at shocks for my 84 f 150 2wd with a stock suspention, and i really like the rancho RS5000's. Has anyone used thes springs, and did you like them? Are there any othe shocks out there that are better for the price?

The RS5000's are an alright shock. I had them on my old Chevy 3/4ton 4x4. If you are used to a soft ride, you may find them a little stiff for your liking, but that's probably going to be true with most gas-pressure off-road shocks on a light half-ton truck. You may also look at Bilstein shocks. They are a little more expensive than the RS5000's, but they give a nice firm but not harsh ride and they are an excellent quality shock with a lifetime warranty. I run them on the front of my F350 and like them alot. Check out www.bilstein.com.

It depends on your usage.

If your going serious off-roading (I noticed you got a 4X2), I would get the Bilsteins or Rancho's. For not so serious off roading and normal roads, I would go Monroe sensitrac (they are cheaper) and also warrentied for life.

I will be doing little offroading, and the offroading that i do will be very light. However, i will be carrying a load in it quite often (a bed full of grass or mulch with a 6x8 trailer). And i want it to take turns better, so i thought with e heavier shock it wouldnt lean so much in the turns.

I have KYB Gas-A-Just shocks on mine. I love the KYB's, it is a lot stiffer ride. I love it onroad or offroad!!!!

On the leaning issue, when I turn my Rancho adjustable rear shocks up, the leaning is less and whole rear end feels tighter. For better control of lean though, look into putting on a rear sway bar if you don't already have one. Also, running your tires at higher pressures will firm up the ride and reduce leaning a little. You should run your tires at high pressure anytime they are loaded. Underinflated tires heat up and heat is what causes tire failure. Also, switching to a higher load range tire with stiffer sidewalls will also reduce leaning and firm up the ride, as well as handle better when loaded. I also found my truck handled better with the new Bilstein shocks I put up front and the steering stabilizer shock I also added was an improvement in controlling ' bump-steer' and rut-following with my big tires.

Rancho RS9000X adjustable

I am suppose to get these in tomorrow Sept 8-04.
I hope they do better than these stock brain bouncers that came stock on my 04' F350 CrewCab 4X4. My 2 year old thinks it funny bouncing in his chair but it sucks for about 5 miles of freeway on the way to work.
Got them for $289 (no tax, no shipping) including the adjusting module (direct from Rancho with coupon). To cheap to no try out.
