Duramax Benefits/Disadvantages 6.0 PSD

The 6.0 PSD obviously prevails in speed, acceleration, and towing when placed against the Duramax. What does the Chevy truck have to offer? I think the Chevy truck has more luxurious comfortable style inside and better exterior looks. Some might say its just not work truck material- it's more of a pimp truck put 20" rims on type of thing. Well I personally put comfort first and feel very comfortable with the 2001 Silverado I drive for work. The new style they did with the front doesn't appeal to me but I still like the 99 and up models.

On the other hand... I have also driven a 2001 Ford F-350 V-10 while working with my brother which was his work truck. The V-10 felt to me like it had less power than the 6.0 Vortec V-8 but that is beside the point. The Ford's plus sides were that it was bigger overall. More interior room and taller. The interior was good but little things nagged at me and made it uncomfortable. The mirrors for one just plain look ugly.

So here is my opinion, the Ford PSD is bigger, faster, and is obviously more work oriented. The Chevy is more luxurious, comfortable, and looks more stylin. The Ford feels like more of a quantity truck, while the Chevy is quality.

Well for one I think the mirrors are great. Best in class. I believe the superduty today is the best looking truck on the road today bar none. Its the way a truck should look like. A truck. Fords idea is we make a truck to satisfy everybodies wants and needs. The superduty a work truck made to work. 150 a truck thats built for comfort and style. A fast truck. The lightning will fill the bill. Fords got it covered. GMs went theway of making trucks for the city folks all the way around. The HD trucks are no different. There way to low to the ground to suit me. Hey I want a truck not a car. Raise those trucks GM. IFS no place on a HD truck for me. Got to be solid axle. I still believe Ford has the better quality and quanity truck. BTW whenIm next to a CHevy Im lookin down at him and hes looking up at me. I dont want anybody looking down on me. Your last line stated the trucks perfectly. In HD trucks Ford rules.

I looks like the Chevy has the higher ground clearance though. According to edmunds anyway:

http://www.edmunds.com/new/2005/ford/f250superduty/100416332/specs.html?tid=edmunds.n.researchlanding.leftsiden av..8.Ford*

What you say is very true. Ford rules in the truck department thats for sure. The Lightning is an awesome truck to. Even though its a race truck which kind of ruins the point of a truck(offroading, payload, towing) I dig it.

I'm confused. This thread's topic is Duramax vs. PSD. But yet, the conversation is about seat-cushions, V-10's and ground clearance. What gives?

i'm confused here what is your point in this thread....are you debating the PSD vs duramax or the v-10 or creature comforts?

I think what he's saying is ... if you're thinking of buying a Duramax, switch to the Vortec and softer seats.

I think he's just bored up in Alaska and is trying to find something wrong with Ford, any Ford. DD, you claimed to be "looking for information" when you joined FTE but it has become quite clear that you don't like Ford at all. It kind of makes me question why you would join a Ford enthusiast website.

On page three of the 2005 ford intro for the ps, they list the 4x2 as having IFS. Was that a misprint? Magazines are rarely perfect.

Well if you notice I said the Vortec/V-10 thing was irrelevant, but you guys seem to be stuck on it so keep with it if you want. I mentioned the ground clearance because 150Ford said the GM is way too low to the ground, but he was most likely talking about overall height. On the engine thing are the Aluminum heads on the Duramax prone to failure or is it just a wide spread belief?

And PowerStroke King I had a good Duramax PSD comparison going until Ironman got the thread locked, I was just trying to start it up again.
